Terms of Use

The deal in plain English: watch for free, play fair, prizes are pre-funded by creators, and nobody wagers.

Template — review with counsel. This is a plain-English starting point written for how PlayPad actually works. It hasn't been reviewed by a lawyer. Placeholders in [brackets] must be completed by the operator before launch.

What PlayPad is

PlayPad is software that lets creators launch a standard ERC-20 token on Robinhood Chain with a game attached, and lets anyone watch — and, where eligible, enter — scheduled game rounds. PlayPad is operated by [Operator legal name] (“we”, “us”), [registered address].

By using PlayPad you agree to these terms, the Rules and the Privacy notice. Creators also agree to the Creator Reward Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use PlayPad.

Who can play

Anyone can watch rounds without signing in. To enter a round or receive a prize you must be at least 18 years old (you confirm this once in the app), legally able to take part in promotional competitions where you live, and not located in a restricted region. Today PlayPad restricts North Korea (KP), Iran (IR), Syria (SY), Cuba (CU) and Russia (RU).

We check eligibility on our servers when you enter and again before a prize is paid. Using a VPN or other tools to get around these checks breaks these terms and can forfeit a prize. Creators may add stricter entry rules for their own rounds (for example, holding a minimum balance of their token).

Your wallet and sign-in

PlayPad is self-custodial. You connect your own wallet and sign in by signing a one-time message; our server verifies that signature and gives your browser a session cookie. Signing in never moves funds. We will never ask for your seed phrase or private key.

You are responsible for your wallet and for every transaction you approve in it. Blockchain transactions are public and can't be reversed by us. Network fees (gas) are paid to the network, not to PlayPad.

Playing rounds

Each round follows the published rules of its game template and the settings the creator chose (player cap, duration, entry rule, prize). Those settings are locked when the round locks. Results are decided by our game servers — never by your browser — using the fairness mechanisms described on each round's fair-play page.

  • Entering a round never requires a stake or payment to PlayPad.
  • A round is cancelled if it doesn't reach its minimum number of players, or if the creator cancels it before it locks.
  • A round is void if our servers fail mid-round. Void rounds have no winner; any funded prize is refunded to the creator.
  • The signed result is final, except where we find a clear technical error or a breach of these terms (see Fair play).

Prizes

Prizes are promotional rewards funded by the round's creator into an on-chain escrow contract before the round may advertise them. A prize is shown as FUNDED ✓ only after our server has verified the funding transaction on-chain. We don't hold prize money in our own accounts.

Prizes are paid from escrow to the wallet you entered with, exactly once, according to the round's distribution (for example winner-takes-all or top 3). A prize paid in a project's own token can change in value; we make no promises about what any token is worth. You are responsible for any taxes on prizes you receive.

Fair play

You agree not to:

  • use bots, scripts or automated inputs, or manipulate timing, network traffic or game messages;
  • enter the same round with multiple wallets you control, or collude with other players;
  • exploit bugs instead of reporting them to [security contact email];
  • post content (names, drawings, prompts, links, project pages) that is illegal, hateful, sexual, infringing or impersonates someone;
  • interfere with PlayPad's servers, smart contracts or other users.

If we reasonably believe someone broke these rules we may disqualify them, withhold or refuse a pending prize, hide content, or ban the account. Where a disqualification changes the standings of an unpaid round, we'll say so on the round's fair-play page.

Creators and projects

Creators are responsible for their project, its token, its content and its prizes, and must accept the Creator Reward Terms before launching. Launches are permissionless by default; we screen content automatically, review reports, and may hide projects or rounds that break these terms.

Creators can customise their game's settings and branding, but not its fairness or security logic. Creators may not make misleading claims — including promises of profit, fake prizes or fake activity.

Tokens and no financial advice

Tokens launched through PlayPad use a standard, fixed-supply ERC-20 contract with no transfer taxes, no blacklist and no ability to mint more. That does not make any token safe or valuable, and launching through PlayPad is not an endorsement. PlayPad does not sell tokens, does not give investment, legal or tax advice, and nothing on PlayPad is an offer or solicitation.

Any platform fees (for example a token deployment fee or a reward distribution fee) are configurable, read from the chain where they apply, and shown to you before you confirm a transaction.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you upload or create (logos, banners, handles, drawings, builds). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display, replay and share it on PlayPad and in share cards and clips for the purpose of running and promoting the service. Anyone can report content; we may hide content that breaks these terms.

Blockchain risks

Smart contracts and blockchains can fail, be congested, or behave unexpectedly. Wallet software can have bugs. Network fees can change. We take care in building and testing PlayPad's contracts but cannot guarantee they are free of defects.

Disclaimers and liability

PlayPad is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or losses caused by the blockchain, your wallet, third-party services or other users. Our total liability to you is limited to [amount / formula]. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction], and disputes are handled by [courts / arbitration body].

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect, and the date above will change. Questions: [support email].
